Frozen Treat Wisdom

Tim loves Mr. Freeze Pops. They don't have to be that brand, but any sugar flavored frozen water in a plastic tube like wrapper. Any flavor. Any time. However many he wants to enjoy in one sitting.

"I could eat them all day," Tim proudly states.

Usually, I adore all frozen desserts, but I don't like the Freezer Pop genre. I know this is a shocking and bold statement, but it comes down to one simple engineering problem with the pop. I can't stand the side of the tube. It always cuts the side of my mouth. It is too sharp. Yes, the sugary, artificial goodness in the tube is sometimes worth it on a hot day, but I will usually pass for something more in the ice cream/popsicle family.

I'm with you - freezies are my last choice, well behind the classic chocolate malt from Dairy Queen or a good old ice cream sandwich. Part of my issue is that it's impossible to open the darn things without a scissor - and who can find a scissor when they need one?!

Back in the day when I could eat these before sulfites - I just cut them an an angle so they wouldn't cut me. Cut it like a pointed roof. Then cut off the roof at the tip -- and suck away :)

I'm with Tim on this one. "Freeze pops," as we call them, are one of my favorites and always have been. My goal as a kid (and even now) is to get as much juice as possible gathered in the bottom before drinking it. There's no sucking before the end of the pop for me. Delicious....not so much in a gourmet way, though : )

I guess I find them a bit flavorless or at least a flavor I'm not so thrilled to taste... plus they get sticky. I prefer a regular popsicle or remember the days of pudding pops? (now THAT was a treat) Have you ever had those whole fruit popsicles? They are FULL of flavor and I love them. But no matter what it all screams summer. And I love it. Yum.
