COUNTRY MUSIC-When I was in junior high, I embraced country music. I even watched the country music channel. Then, I realized that I was only listening to country music because the boy I crushed after liked country music. Unacceptable! I realized that all country music follows the same themes..."I love you and I lost you and my life is sad without you", "I am proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm Free", and "I am a down-home country girl/boy and I like to sing about down home things like the Chattahochie or Wal-Mart". Shocking, I know. I know some will strongly disagree, but that is okay. Go ahead and continue to listen to country music. I will continue to rock to Van Halen and reflect to Patty Griffin.

I'm beginning to tolerate some country music. Probably because my fiancee like it. Fortunately she also likes other types of music, so I'm not stuck listening to it too often.

Amy says: I like older country music and I've always enjoyed Dolly. My first concert ever was Garth Brooks, but that was because I lived in Texas at the time - so I guess I have a place in my heart for Garth. Overall, I dislike modern country music (with a few exceptions) - its cheesiness, cliched and repeated themes, and its sometimes simplistic, black and white, you're either with me or against me patriotism

Amy adds a caveat: but, I don't listen to it enough to know if there are artists breaking this mold. so, if there are any unique and interesting new country artists out there, let us know, country music fans......

i don't like country music either. I have found that a majority of country artists are uninformed, right-wing republicans, and man...there's nothing i dislike more.

toby keith needs to fall of the face of the planet. he makes me gag like melons make you gag. just a itty-bitty visual of him is repulsive.

I went to that Garth Brooks concert with Amy (I think, I was 8 and can't remember) it was at sea World of Texas. Then again, maybe she went for a birthday party I was not invited too, Again, can't remember. Anyways, I am listening to Friends in Low Places as i write this, ironically, It was on my friends wedding CD. I like the song, but Man, Garth Brooks, is REALLY a strange person.
