It seems that I have been able to keep this Midwestern Position nonsense going for another year. I wonder when I will get over the whole idea of a blog and move on to other adventures?
Will I be 80 and still be logging into my Blogger account everyday to share with my fellow seniors about the latest musical obsession or the Argentine Tango class I just couldn't resist in the all purpose room at the Senior Center?
Will my readers still be around to give their two cents on whether orthopedic shoes are really that important or can I just keep wearing the Birkenstocks that have been so good to me for the last 50 years?
Here are my blogger's birthday wishes...
- I wish to dress up as a professional wrestler where I get to grab the microphone and make my best threat into the camera....okay, that is quite a fantasy. Not the nearly naked type female wrestlers of today, but the cliche man type wrestler from my 1980's Saturday morning childhood.
- I wish to run into more celebrities so that I can blog about them and how much I loved them in that...that...movie...you know...that movie.
- Instead of tap dancing, I hope to register for some dance lessons that require me to be swung, dipped, twirled, and/or twisted by my lovely husband. He is unaware of this request, but he reads this...
- I want to make downward dog my new best friend. I want yoga to be my new thing rather than iced coffee.
- I want, as my Midwestern Position birthday present, ALL of my readers to leave a comment, wish, question, and/or two cents. Thanks for reading!

Happy to oblige you in that last wish! :)
I think I found you via my friend Matt (Thoughts from the Oasis Amidst the Corn).
Just want to wish you a "Happy Blog-iversary!" Seems like many of the blogs I've started to keep tabs on have been celebrating that lately. Not a lot to add (I'm not officially a blogger, but I sometimes post stuff at myspace--I'm not a kid, but started a page so that I could see what my kids are up to!), just wanted to say "keep up the good work!". Because I enjoy it. :)

Well Happy Birthday! I am not a frequent commentor, but I am a loyal reader and I really enjoy your blog. Now maybe you should change it up a bit and do some dancing to post this year. And to add to your "What I'm Lovin" post, I am also diggin' the brown and egg shell blue. However, I enjoy it more with a splash of white. I encourage you to do some redecorating. It is very enjoyable. Well congrats, and I look forward to reading more fantastic pieces in the future!

Happy Birthday MWP!! Well done Sara! I can't wait to get the DL on Iowa! You are such a great writer. Keep it up! And I very much agree with Midwestern Rule #2 - I believe it was Franklin Roosevelt that said "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice" or was it Danny Tanner.. I can't remember...
Sara-
Happy 2nd Birthday! I've been reading your blog for a couple of months now and enjoy it a lot. And I, too, love all things lime.
A fellow Midwesterner.
Dear MWP:
Thank you for being an oasis of fun, silliness, insight and the like in the middle of my work day. Without you, my daily blog surfing just wouldn't be the same.
Happy Birthday, MWP, and here's to many more.
Sincerely,
The girl that has a blog, but just doesn't post often enough anymore.
Swing dancing is the BOMB, yo! We had a class in college, and me and this girl went for about four nights, and we were awesome. I swung her around behind me and caught her on the other side and stuff. It was awesome, especially since I just saw her last weekend at a wedding, and we danced and couldn't remember most of our moves. But we laughed a lot.
Happy Blogirthday, Sara. Namiste.
Congratulations! My second blogger birthday won't be until August 18 of this year. I actually started earlier, but on a different site.
Congratulations Sara! Reading your blog takes me back five summers ago to our wonderful four-week excursion and its daily writing prompts. Do you remember the atomic fireball one? What about Rachel's classical music? It was awesome - all I'm missing are the cookies you brought - a concoction with some kind of pecan. In honor of your second birthday, I'll look up the recipe and make some for the kids Friday. :) Thanks for the inspiration! Marci
Happy Birthday to The Midwestern Position! I wish you many years more... may you always be struck with wonder and inspiration.
Am I dreaming or did we once do some variation of the hustle in a summer school class? Sure it wasn't swing dancing... but it was getting closer!
Hooray and wow for two years of MWP! This is a favorite blog to read because it's regular, concise, and interesting. ...and you're a lot like me. Like I wrote to you privately, it's like a small coffee. Your blogging is also my inspiration to do more of my own. Thank you, Sara!
